This is not the first time I’ve noticed a reddish dot in my waxing crescent Moon photos. My guess, I just caught one of the Luna orbiting satellites just at the right moment, when the sunrays or the earthshine reflect the satellite panels.

I’m not seeing the red dot…

I have a better resolution on Flickr. You can click directly on the photo, so it can be blown up. Since I worked on the colors in Photoshop, the satellite is not so red there either. But you will see the dot on the left of the Moon.

On WordPress, I use lower resolution for more media storage.

Ok. Thanks. I can see it, now. How do you know which satellite it is?

I don’t. My guess it is the Lunar Orbiter, since it shows a cross like at the end of a Phillips screwdriver in my camera view. The only satellite with those reflecting panels could be one of the Lunar Orbiters. π©πΌβπ However, this is just a guess as I mentioned before. π

Naw, but I love to do research. When I was a kid, I always wanted to be an astronaut and fly to the Moon. When my middle child was much younger, she wanted to be the first woman on Mars. Who knows, what she can accomplish in her life. Right now, she wants to “hunt” dinosaur bones. π¦
