Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

(Macbeth)

The temperatures seem to be perfect for the greenhouse garden, this October. We still have quite a few snacker tomatoes. The beef-steak tomatoes are still green. And the flowers seem to do well. I also could harvest a banana pepper, a bell pepper, two eggplants, and half a bowl of cherry tomatoes and golden sun tomatoes. This Summer I started late because I waited for the greenhouse to be built. Therefore I will have a late harvest in Autumn.

Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis )

Brown Pelican with Roseate Spoonbills in the background

Theย Brown Pelican is aย birdย of theย pelicanย family,ย Pelecanidae, one of threeย speciesย found in the Americas and one of two that feed by diving into the water. It is located on the Atlantic Coast fromย New Jerseyย to the mouth of theย Amazon River, and along theย Pacific Coastย fromย British Columbiaย to northernย Chile, including theย Galapagos Islands. Theย nominate subspeciesย in itsย breeding plumageย has a white head with a yellowish wash on the crown. Theย napeย and neck are dark maroonsโ€“brown. The upper sides of the neck have white lines along the base of theย gular pouch, and the lower fore neck has a pale yellowish patch. The male and female are similar, but the female is slightly smaller. The nonbreeding adult has a white head and neck. The pink skin around the eyes becomes dull and gray in the nonbreeding season. It lacks any red hue; the pouch is firmly olivaceous ochre-tinged, and the legs are olivaceous gray to blackish-gray.
